Cyrad Engineering was named in honor of the constellation Cygnus, the swan. Originally Cygnus Research and Development, it was decided that the name was too much of a mouthful to say. Not to mention that Cygnus sounded too much like 'sickness'. So, it was rolled into a more hip sounding name, taking advantage of association with now more commonplace words like 'cybernetics' and 'cyborg'.
