Introduction
This page will document my project to build a supercomputer.  While it probably won't begin well into 2010 or 2011, I can start the conceptual work now.  It will probably be a marriage of microcontrollers, DSP chips and FPGAs- a souped up version of Steve Circia's project in his Circuit Cellar column (see the three-part article, "A Supercomputer", Byte, October-December 1988).  This computer will be designated the SC-1 (in honor of the father of the supercomputer, Seymour Cray).  The purpose of this computer is to be a high-performance numerical processor, the computer equivalent of the muscle car.  Its main purpose will be brute force work on problems, such as simulations.  While in the past, I had an interest in AI (artificial intelligence), I'm just interested in FLOPS (floating point operations per second) now.  Besides, with my interest in CNCs and lasers, I could end up with a machine asking where it may find John Connor.
